Guests will enjoy exclusive, private waterfront accommodations including a master bedroom, queen bedroom, a sleeping loft for six, and lovely common areas. The kitchen will be stocked with $1,000 worth of groceries from Atkinsons’ Market, so you can relax and enjoy the stunning views, outdoor access, and fresh mountain air. Opt for an adventure—a half-day of climbing for four, a full-day of climbing for two, or up to a full day of hiking for five—with Erik Leidecker ’90 of Sawtooth Mountain Guides. The relaxing lakeside setting will refresh you after your daytime adventures.
Fine print: Your consecutive six-night stay can take place anytime between July 25 and August 6, 2017; you may choose to do your own grocery shopping.
Thank you to Steve and Stephanie Shafran, Atkinsons’ Market, and Erik Leidecker ’90!
Picture this: Your day begins as you awake to a breathtaking view across a waving field of lavender; further in the distance, the picturesque French village of Bonnieux is silhouetted against the morning sky. You take your time to enjoy the view before rousing yourself for a brisk ten-minute walk to the village, where you sit in a cafe and enjoy coffee and a croissant, while you plan your day in Provence. You consider exploring nearby villages, markets, and vineyards (think Chateauneuf du Pape), or hiking and biking the surrounding hill country, but, after reflecting, you choose to save those excursions for tomorrow and instead stroll home to spend the day lounging by the the 45-foot pool. In the evening, to round out your ideal, sunbaked day, you enjoy a chilled glass of the local rosé on the terrace as you gaze at the magic of the village glowing in the twilight as night slowly descends. Let the song of the cicadas lull you to sleep!
Sound idyllic? This day and six more similarly lovely can be yours when you bid to enjoy seven nights in at Debra and Lyman Drake's luxurious – yet still intimate – country villa: La Mandarine. La Mandarine is located at the base of the Luberon mountains, near the village of Bonnieux, and less than an hour from Aix en Provence or Avignon – the nearest TGV station for trains to Paris. This five-bedroom/four-bath house sleeps nine people in great comfort, yet it's just as much fun for two. The home is filled with art and antiques personally selected by the owners. This is not your typical rental property!
Fine print: Booking is subject to availability, and prior bookings are viewable here. Reserve your week directly with the Drakes, and please use your time before Dec. 31, 2018. As the pool is not fenced, the house is not suitable for small children who are not yet pool-safe.
Thank you, Debra and Lyman Drake!
Mafia Mania: An Evening with Charles Brandt
Do you have mafia mania? How about movie mania? Indulge both with this incredibly unique experience: a private, catered dinner for you and 15 friends with Charles Brandt, author of I Heard You Paint Houses. Brandt’s enthralling tale is the basis of a highly anticipated feature film to be filmed this summer by Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese, starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. You’ll hang on the author’s every word as you enjoy—what else?—an Italian feast with Vinanti red wine, a fourth generation Sicilian vintage that you can’t buy in the US, and spaghetti and meatballs, flawlessly prepared by—who else?—Cristina. The former deputy attorney general of Delaware, Brandt essentially took the confessions of countless “made men," including Frank Sheeran, the guy that murdered Jimmy Hoffa. No one in this world knows the mafia better (ask him who really assassinated JFK). Included in this package are copies of the book, signed by Charles Brandt, for each guest.
Cost per person: $250
Maximum guests: 20 (Only ten spots available for online purchase)
Date: Friday, September 15, 2017
Location: The Whorton Home
Hosts: Lisa and Dave Whorton, Charles Brandt
Thank you, Charles Brandt and Lisa and Dave Whorton!

Wine and Dine, ft, il Naso and Rivera Vineyards
Celebrate delectable food and wine when you gather a group of 12 friends to share a meal at stellar local restaurant il Naso paired with two wonderful wines to complement the meal.
About the wines:
• The 1.5-liter collector’s edition magnum of 1996 Bodegas Alejandro Fernandez Pesquera Millennium Reserva “exhibits lovely, complex aromatics, savory flavors, elegance, and power. Aged three years in French oak, it is plush and mouth-filling, with an amazing concentration of plum, boysenberry, chocolate, and licorice flavors over graceful tannins. A complete effort, a very special bottle.”
• The 6-liter Napa Valley Rivera Vineyards 2005 Perpetuity Cabernet Sauvignon is characterized by the aromas of bright red fruit flavors of raspberry, plum, and strawberry, with components of herbal, anise, and tea imparted by the cool temperatures of the 2005 vintage. This vintage, combined with the vineyard location, created a wine with finesse reminiscent of Europe.
About the meal:
• Prepared by il Naso’s executive chef Brittany Campbell, the dinner will highlight local, seasonal ingredients in creative, fresh Italian fare. Il Naso has been the recipient of a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for the last four years.
Fine print: Mutually agreeable date for the il Naso meal.

The Limelight Hotel
Join us for a philanthropic adventure! Community School's Annual Auction is the school's primary fundraising event, one that is not to be missed. The event will include a live auction, paddle up, party sign-ups, and raffle.
This year, we will welcome approximately 150 parents, faculty, alumni, and friends of the school.
As with most independent schools, tuition and fees do not cover Community School's operating costs. The school relies on donations to the Annual Fund and proceeds from fundraising events like the Annual Auction. We NEED to raise $150,000 at the auction to support school programs.
This annual party is one of Community School's most important fundraisers and benefits those who matter most — our students. The auction helps sustain everything that makes Community School an exceptional and unique learning environment, including academics, the arts, athletics, the Outdoor Program, faculty development, and financial aid.
